We are delighted to announce that Bill Cash has been nominated unopposed as the Chairman of the European Scrutiny Committee by the Conservative 1922 Committee last night.
Bill Cash said:
“I am utterly delighted at receiving such overwhelming support from so many colleagues.
“We now have to get down to the business of sifting through the massive logjam of European Directives and other European Commission proposals and setting up the membership of the Committee as soon as reasonably possible because European proposals and legislation have such a pervasive impact on the daily lives of the voters of the United Kingdom.”
Congratulations Mr Cash on your appointment as chairman. There could have been no more worthy a candidate given your marvellous crusade against the Maastricht Treaty in the 90s. We need Thatcherite, right wing Eurosceptics in positions of power in order to safeguard the sovereignties this country has got left after decades of gerrymandering from the EU. I’m afraid that Lib Dem influence is proving problematic on the law and order front. The proposed liberalist scrappage of short sentences for some offenders smacks of gerrymandering from the Lib Dems and we must NOT forget that as a party they are more pro-European than New Labour.
