Bill Cash has tabled a motion, supported by select committee chairmen and other prominent Conservatives, “that legislation enacted in the UK Parliament is the ultimate source of the rule of law in the UK and on which judicial interpretation and judgment is based… that the case of Abu Qatada demonstrates the urgent need for the enactment of a Bill of Rights at Westminster… and replacing the European Convention together with the repeal of the Human Rights Act 1998 and that the Bill of Rights… shall be the sole source of that sphere of the rule of law in the UK”.
