Bill Cash MP condemns Kenneth Clarke’s statement regarding the Lisbon Treaty if the Irish vote Yes. He demands to know upon what authority Kenneth Clarke made the statement reported by the Press Association and on television on Sunday (14 June).

Bill Cash further stated that he believes that it is essential that we have a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty irrespective of the Irish vote, as he stated in The Times on 9 June 2009, and that this is supported by a very substantial number of Conservative Members of Parliament.

Bill Cash, Kenneth Clarke's oldest adversary on the Europe issues states that "It appears that Kenneth Clarke has reinvented unilaterally Conservative Party policy on the whole of the Lisbon Treaty and European Policy " and repeated demands to know on what authority he has done it.
