The MPs will debate, this afternoon, the EU Bill. The Daily Telegraph reports that “Tory critics say the Bill still leaves the final decision with ministers and so opens the way for judicial challenges that would put Britain’s relationship with the EU in the hands of judges, not Parliament” and points out that “The rebellion is being led by Bill Cash, the Conservative chairman of the Commons European Scrutiny Committee.”

Bill Cash told the BBC "The EU Bill was sold as a sovereignty bill, it was sold as a bill that was going to increase the power to the people.

In fact, what it does is undermine the power of the people by giving greater opportunities and gateways for the judiciary to be able to assert its ultimate authority over parliament and that is not a good thing."

Bill Cash was also quoted by The Express saying “This Bill is in danger of creating ambiguities and the consequence could end up being opposite to what the Government intends.

It could end up weakening rather than strengthening the sovereignty of Parliament and transfer more power to the judiciary. This legislation should be about giving power to the people, not to European Court judges.”
