Lord Howell of Guildford said, yesterday, that all European Commissioners and at least 300 EU officials receive a higher salary than David Cameron – £142,500 (€170,000). Lord Howell pointed out that the Government does not have access to the EU officials’ salary details but “to salary scales and the approximate number of officials in each grade.” Hence, he stressed that “Officials in grades AD 16 and AD 15 (director-general level) have scales in which the minimum is above the salary of the Prime Minister.”

The Metro and the Express quote Bill Cash saying “This is inconceivable. With intense crises throughout the EU, the European Commission has absolutely no basis to be suggesting pay rises which far exceed inflation.”

I commented, yesterday, that the Commission is looking for and anti-trafficking coordinator, such person will receive a basic monthly salary ranging from around €12.967 to around €14.672.
