It was very unfortunate to listen to Anne Applebaum, this morning, On Start the Week, saying that only 5% of the UK’s legislation comes from Brussels. It is important to recall that according to a House of Commons Library Research Paper on 13 October 2010, ―"The British Government estimated that around 50% of UK legislation with a significant economic impact originates from EU legislation.”
The UK Parliament is constantly faced with decisions that are taken away from it by the use of the ordinary legislative procedure and due to QMV the UK has been forced to accept EU measures, which it was against.
Perhaps to settle the argument how about listing exactly what is left for a UK Government to do? The Political Parties have talked about Schools, they can talk about the NHS and how many may have to close, they can talk about erm, erm,
Ah, we can talk about our Forces and the CUTS this Government is having to make, but we ALL note that money is found to pay the many Billions of British pounds for EU Contributions and though our forces are being cut to the bone, we also pay, many, many EU Agencies, one of which is the EU DEFENCE AGENCY. Need I write more?
