The court on Monday found the British Government acted illegally in shutting down Parliament for five weeks ahead of the European Union withdrawal deadline. As MPs returned to Westminster on Wednesday, Sir Bill said: “He will be resolute because he’s got right on his side and, in my opinion, he has public opinion on his side as well. The position is he’s got right because it’s based upon the fact that we are entitled to prorogue.”The Supreme Court has made a decision, we accept the decision but the bottom line is that, as far as the unlawfulness is concerned, it is a question entirely of opinion by the Supreme Court.”The Tory MP continued: “You may just recall for a second that the Divisional Court, the Master of the Rolls, the Chief Justice and the head of the Divisional Court all took a different view.”So it’s not surprising the advice came out as it did.” Read more here
